Somewhere in an autumn park, a boy throws a paper plane up into the air. The wind swiftly carries it along. Meanwhile the boy counts how long it can stay up in the air. But the wind drops and the plane lands in the hair of a knitting old lady. The boy takes his plane back on the sly, but the old lady is keeping an eye on him.
Through the four seasons we follow the plane and the cat-and-mouse game between the boy and the old lady.

Vol Au Vent originated during a Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF) animation workshop in 2006. Isabel, together with coach Geert De Kockere, developed the first versions of the storyboard. Lunanime’s Annemie Degryse soon became involved to produce the project.
For Vol Au Vent Isabel wanted to make the switch from traditional to digital animation. After many graphic and technical studies, the film was ready to start production and Lunanime was granted support from the Flanders Audiovisual Fund.
Composer Annelies Van Parys was involved in the project from the very beginning (just as she had been with Isabel’s previous films). The music plays an important role in this film. Unlike with the previous films, for Vol Au Vent an additional sound design was created that complements the poetic atmosphere and the simple style.

De compilatie getuigt van de variatie en speelsheid van het genre en bovenal van het geweldige talent en virtuositeit van de Vlaamse animatiefilmmakers.
